A charming, gentle, poignant and thoroughly enjoyable romance, Written on the Wind is a beguiling rural tale of small-town life and heartwarming romance that will go down a treat with fans who enjoy the stories of Rosamunde Pilcher and Alexandra Raife. Wonderfully told, appealing and romantic, Written on the Wind is not to be missed!
Diana Pellino comes from an overprotective family, a family of cops, with a few fire fighters thrown in. As a cop herself, she has risen through the ranks until she is now a homicide detective. Her latest case is beginning to look like the work of a serial killer. Now though, the murderer has added arson, burning his victims. Having to work with Luke Fontella, the fire marshal, puts stress not only on her case but also with her family when the case seems to lead in directions that may threaten her family. Working with the overbearing, arrogant but very desirable Luke, racing to solve the case before another murder and dealing with the family issues, leaves Diana with more than enough problems. Add to this that the facts point to someone close not being trustworthy, and Diana is left with little choice but to trust Luke who may be the only one who can help her solve the case.
Capable, competent, and beautiful, Diana is a fantastic heroine. She has no problem standing up for herself, something she has had to do to thrive in the world of predominantly male cops. Her ability to counter male sexist attitudes and behaviors make for some exciting scenes that will have women smiling. In spite of his arrogance and over bearing attitude, Luke turned out to be her perfect match.
Cop’s Daughter 4: Diana is Laura Marie Henion’s best one yet. Non-stop action, thought provoking scenes and an excellent knowledge of cops and their families makes Cop’s Daughter 4: Diana a compelling read. The plot is excellent and keeps you guessing until the very end. An excellent addition to her Cop’s Daughter series, be sure and pick this one up and while you are at it, check out the others in this series if you have not read them as yet. You will not be disappointed.
Dr. Lisa Maxwell, Archeologist, in on the hunt for the Three Furies statues from Ancient Greece, that washed up ashore in the Caribbean over a hundred years ago and then according to evidence were then found by three adolescent girls. She has obsessed over finding the furies because of a part of her past. After she finds one of them in Jamaica, she sets in motion a series of events.
Unknown to Lisa, Rafael “Rafe” Sullivan is also looking for the Furies for reasons of his own. Though he lies to her and steals from her when they first meet, the sparks between them practically jump off the page.
But others are also on the trail of the Furies and murder is nothing to these parties.
In Ms. Naughton’s debut, she really brings you into the story, so that even though you know on one level there will be a positive ending, you forget about that and nibble on your nails and read as fast as you can, hoping that they will survive and over come the obstacles in front of them. All of the characters are very real as well. You really feel for them. They aren’t caricatures, so you may know people like them.
I find that a lot of the time these days, when a story involves archeology and adventure, people compare them to Indiana Jones and while I can see the possibility for that here, I really feel, that Stolen Fury is it’s own story.
So why not start off 2009 with a great new author and a great adventure.
Enjoy
Happy Endings is the spellbinding new novel by one of the finest writers of contemporary romantic comedy: Trisha Ashley! A delicious story of publishing, sex, friendship and romance, Happy Endings is an unmissable tale you will guzzle down in a single sitting!
Tina Devino’s sex and gardening novels may not be selling like hotcakes, but luckily for her, she still manages to make ends meet by running a small literary agency from the comfort of her home in the small town of Shrimphaven, where she gives unpublished writers advice about how to sell their manuscripts and become successful writers. Tina’s life might not be as exciting as her novels, but she’s got plenty of things to inspire her – mainly in the form of her muscular lover, former ballet superstar Sergei Popov and a mysterious unnamed man whom she always comes across on the tube.
However, on a visit to London, Tina gets the shock of her life when her agent, Miracle, announces that she’s letting go of some of her clients – and Tina is the last one on her list! As if things aren’t bad enough already, her editor, Ruperta, has left Salubrious Press, who have published every one of Tina’s books, and her new editor is none other than her ex-husband Tim, who makes it quite clear that if her latest manuscript is not a best-seller, Tina will find herself without an agent and a publisher!
Tina’s absolutely flabbergasted that her luck seems to have taken a turn for the worst, but she’s determined not to give up without a fight and she sets to work on making sure that her latest manuscript is the bestseller it so rightly deserves to be. But, with her best friend Linny seeming intent on bothering her with her diet dilemmas, her dreams of becoming a published romance writer and her frequent moans and groans; not to mention Sergei’s odd behaviour and a persistent admirer who has begun to creep slowly into stalker territory, it looks like Tina’s going to have more than her manuscript on her mind.
Will Tina get the happy ending which she has been hoping her? Or will her friends and family put paid to any chance of a happy ever after?
Trisha Ashley’s hilarious, acerbic and moving contemporary novels never disappoint and Happy Endings is certainly no exception! Featuring an absolutely delightful heroine, a cast of eccentric supporting characters, plenty of twists and turns and lots of heart, Happy Endings is another superb read by a wonderful writer whose books never fail to put a smile on my face!
Wonderfully romantic, hilariously funny and highly absorbing, A Winter’s Tale is Trisha Ashley’s brilliant new novel!
Sophy Winter’s life is in a bit of a mess. Her beloved daughter, Lucy, is halfway across the world, teaching English to Japanese students, she has hardly anything to her name and she’s been left homeless and jobless after the death of her employer. Now living in a decrepit camper van, Sophy is desperately trying to think of ways to restore her fortunes. But with no qualifications or any relevant experience, Sophy cannot help but wonder whether her luck has truly run out.
But things begin to look up for her when she is informed that she has just inherited Winter’s End, the glorious country estate that has been in her family for generations. Sophy had spent most of her early childhood at Winter’s End, until she had been forced by her irrepressible mother to leave the beautiful house to go and live in a commune in America with people who, like her mother, had been more interested in getting high and anonymous sex than in their children’s welfare.
Since then, Sophy hasn’t given much thought to Winter’s End or to the other members of her extended family, so she is flabbergasted when she finds herself abandoning her clapped out van for a stately pile! However, on her arrival, Sophy is shocked to her very core when she finds the once great house reduced to complete shambles, her elderly aunts Hebe and Ottille barely speaking to one another and her staff inadequate! Winter’s End looks more like a nightmare than the solution to all her problems, but Sophy is determined to turn things around and to prove to herself and her sceptical relatives that she isn’t just her hippy mother’s illegitimate daughter, but a true member of the Winter clan.
Sophy has great plans for Winter’s End. She wants to open up the house to the public and to turn Winter’s End into a major tourist attraction. However, Jack Lewis, a distant relation, is keen to dissuade her of this ridiculous notion. Jack would love nothing more than for Sophy to sell the house to him – and he plans to use whatever means necessary to get what he wants…even seduction! Although Sophy is flattered by Jack’s advances, she cannot help but wish that it was head gardener Seth Greenwood who was paying court to her.
Seth is nothing like Jack: he’s a salt of the earth kind of guy with a passion for the great outdoors, who feels more at home in wellies and cords than in a designer suit. The more time Sophy spends with Seth, the more she starts to fall for him, but with sophisticated Melinda batting her eyelashes at him, does Sophy stand a chance with the man she is crazy about?
Will Winter’s End give Sophy the life she’s always wanted? Or would Sophy have been better off staying in her cramped camper van?
Enchanting, intelligent and warm-hearted, A Winter’s Tale is an outstanding romantic comedy brimming with warmth, charm, humour and vigour, from the superb pen of the supremely talented Trisha Ashley!
