How I got seduced by Delilah Marvelle

As many of you may know (or may not…) I write very, very HOT historical romance. I’ve always loved reading romance and especially loved reading all the naughty tid bits in between knowing that our hero and heroine were madly in love with one another and that anything was permissible between them because of it.

So what drew me in to reading this genre? I have to say that it isn’t a simple one thing. And interestingly enough, it started with fairy tales. The ultimate romance. For many years, it was just me and my father while I was growing up. And although I was very much a tom boy and loved to hang out with the boys, I absolutely adored the night time stories my father always read to me. In particular fairy tales. Hans Christian Anderson, Grimm, you name it. I fell in love with it. My father eventually got tired of reading the same story 500 times and told me I should start writing them in order to give us something new to read. He planted the dream into my head.

And then, one day, as a few years passed, I was 14 and I headed into the library, like I did every two weeks, to pick out new books. I wandered into a section I never wandered into before. The Romance section. I picked up Judith McNaught on the recommendation of another teenage girl who was loitering the aisles. I wished to God that I had gotten this girl’s name as I very well owe her MY LIFE. Judith McNaught was but the beginning of the seduction. The emotions it evoked within me, the characters I was introduced to was like reading a more complex version of a fairy tale.

And then I started reading Jane Eyre. And I knew. I knew that I would not only read historical romances for the rest of my days but that I would one day write them and join their ranks. Imagine my surprise at finding I have done just that. So thank you to the gal in the library whose name will forever be lost. And thank you to Judith McNaught and all the historical romance authors who inspired me to not only read romance but write it.
