Review: Seducing A Scottish Bride by Sue-Ellen Welfonder

"Mystery, magic, and love in historical Scotland. Will Lady Gelis be able to seduce her husband who wants her returned home for her safety from the evil that inhabits his land, but will the evil destroy her if she stays?"

“Since the earliest memories of time, the chieftains of the great house of MacKenzie have called Kintail their own.” “Kintail, a vast territory of extraordinary beauty…blessed with sparkling lochs and deep inlets, wild heather covered hills, and endless whispering moors, Kintail’s grandeur is legend.”

“But there was one deeply shadowed corner of that land, haunted by the doomed aspirations of a man best forgotten: Maldred the Dire. Although Maldred has long since disappeared from history, his clan, MacRuaris, still bear the shame of his nefarious deeds until one man, Raven, born to be the leader, grows weary, but before the Raven can move forward, or find happiness, Old Debts must be repaid..”

“Now, the hidden past has unrolled and been brought to the fore, and only one woman alone can bring about Raven’s success, but only if Raven can realize that truth, and claim her as his because the Raven was to be her husband, and her one true love”..

Lady Gelis MacKenzie dreams of wonder, and love for her future, and she desires to know whom her future husband may be. After setting out a scrying bowl over night, Gelis has high hopes of discovering who will be her husband. The scrying bowl was a failure, but as Gelis walked along the loch near her father’s castle, Gelis had a vision of a handsome warrior reaching for her, cloaked as a Raven, enclosing her within his wings, and bringing love to her as well as feeling the love through her physical senses. Gelis has the gift of second sight, and as she is walking the Loch an offer of marriage arrives for her to marry Ronan, also called The Raven, a member of a clan that only her father knew existed within their territory. Gelis is thrilled because she knows that this will be a happy fulfilling marriage. Her father and mother were not as thrilled as Gelis is, but they set out to the MacRuaris’ clan lands because Gelis is determined to accept this offer of marriage from The Raven.

However, at the home of the MacRuaris, called  Castle Dare, all is not well. Ronan has discovered that an offer of marriage has been extended to the daughter of the Black Stag, a valiant warrior whom none would dare cross because it would mean certain death. Even worse, the daughter has apparently accepted, and is on her way to their castle. Ronan had sworn never to marry again after having two wives who died. Now, totally against his will, a wife is on her way to him. A wife who has her own ideas, and who expects her husband to come to her bed the night she arrives. A wife who after arriving is constantly trying to seduce him wherever he may be, and in spite of his rebuffs, is chasing him around the bailey. How is a warrior to fight a woman bent on seduction?

This is an extraordinary story, a rare gift to savor as a woman who knows what she wants goes after it much to the dismay of her new husband who desires only to return her home, unspoiled, to protect her from certain death. However, Gelis is having nothing to do with returning home, Gelis wants to indulge in the marriage bed come whatever, and she is pulling out all of the feminine wiles that she possesses to seduce her new husband.

The story sounds thrilling but I wonder why women read so many romance stories instead of getting busy aquiring some real romance in their own lives.

I do have my true love romance. However, it is such delicious fun to read about it while hubby is at work ;>) Some days he has a remarkable welcoming home! Reading leads to real life adventures, don’t you know? Hugs!
