Deal With This by Lucy Monroe
Someone is selling high tech equipment to some very bad men so the “Old Man”, as he is fondly called by the agents, sends Alan to Vancouver to the film set of Jillian Carlyle. Once there he finds a woman who fires his blood and distracts him from his objective. Is she the guilty party or is she as innocent as she appears? His cover as a reporter will put him in close contact with most of the key players, but what happens if Jillian turns out to be next on the killer’s list?
Jillian has been doing just fine staying out of relationships, not getting attached and staying safe from love. She has a powerful attraction to the gorgeous reporter but can not afford to get involved in any way. What is a woman to do when such a gorgeous man is working out in her gym, showing off his beautiful body? He even makes her feel protected, for heaven’s sake, but protected from what, she cannot say. Something shady is going on at Frost Productions and Alan seems to be in the thick of things; why would a reporter be so involved in the intrigue?
Lucy Monroe gives readers a well crafted story of danger and desire; a skillfully woven blend of mystery, love and passion. As evidenced in past novels, Lucy Monroe not only writes passion well but also makes it believable. Alan and Jillian are intelligent, smart and principled individuals who are afraid to get involved. Both have been hurt in different ways and need that extra “something” both bring to the relationship. The romance is never overshadowed by sex for the sake of filling pages; each encounter is poignant, appropriate to the storyline and intensely passionate. Edge of the seat suspense provides extra impetus to keep flipping pages to find out who the culprits are. A well balanced and engaging secondary cast is a brilliant mix of funny, charming, witty and screwball. Deal With This is another jewel in the crown of Lucy Monroe. This reader will be on tenterhooks until the next installment is released.
