Review: Wedding Tiers by Trisha Ashley

"Trisha Ashley’s scrumptious new novel, Wedding Tiers, is a joy from start to finish!"

Josie Gray’s life couldn’t be more perfect. She lives a life of rural bliss in the tiny Lancashire village of Neatslake with her childhood sweetheart Ben and makes a comfortable living baking wedding cakes and writing a humourous column for Skint Old Northern Woman magazine. When her best friend Libby Martin announces that she’s moving back to Neatslake and buying Blessings, the local stately home, Josie is absolutely delighted. She has everything she’s always dreamed of having – except a baby and a ring on her finger. Unfortunately, Ben thinks marriage is an outdated institution which he’s got no intention of joining any time soon and despite many a romantic night, Josie and Ben just cannot seem to get pregnant. However, Josie is not about to be deterred. She’s absolutely determined to hold her baby in her arms one day and she won’t give up until she succeeds – despite that niggling voice at the back of her mind telling her she’s the reason why she cannot get pregnant.

But when Libby announces that she’s getting married, Josie finds herself putting her baby plans aside and investing all of her time and energy into planning the wedding of the year. Wedding addict Josie is in her element surrounded by tulle, rose petals and top hats; the only fly in her ointment is Libby’s longtime friend, photographer Noah Septhon and his bloody camera which, for reasons known only to him, he keeps pointing in her direction – usually when she’s looking like an embittered harridan who could curdle milk at fifty paces! Suave, charismatic and handsome, Noah’s playboy reputation precedes him and with his leggy blonde model girlfriend hanging on his arm, Josie is sure that Noah couldn’t possibly be flirting with her…Or is he?

Besides, even if she was interested, she’s perfectly happy with Ben. However, her knight in shining armour soon drops a bombshell that puts paid to her rural idyll: he has a mistress who is pregnant with his child! Shocked and betrayed, Josie throws Ben out and seeks solace in some homemade peapod wine – and in the arms of a compliant Noah Sephton!

Newly single Josie does not want to get involved with anyone else ever again. But Josie hasn’t counted on the persuasive charms of Mr. Sephton! Will Josie give romance another try? Or will she miss out on the love of a lifetime?

Trisha Ashley’s books never fail to brighten up my day! Fast-paced, warm-hearted, funny and imbued with lots of charm, her captivating romantic comedies are simply irresistible. In Wedding Tiers, Trisha Ashley has created a wonderful heroine who is smart, resourceful and the kind of woman we’d all want to have as a friend, a gorgeous hero whose charm will make you swoon, a lovely cast of supporting characters we’d all like to have as neighbours and a gloriously beautiful fictional village I would really love to live in.

Hilarious, fun and gripping, Wedding Tiers is a delicious tale of romance, friendship, family and cakes from one of my favourite writers of romantic comedy: Trisha Ashley!
