Review: Desire Untamed (Feral Warriors, Book 1) by Pamela Palmer
As all the potential heroes are revealed in the first book of the Feral Warriors series, the reader will be ecstatic over the prospect of so many upcoming books featuring these impressively powerful shape-shifting men. Pamela Palmer has conceived a most imaginative world for her compelling series, one filled with exceptionally unique characters and cleverly unusual issues to be faced.
The Feral Warriors are nine shape-shifters, men who are immortal and watch over the Therian race, protecting them and even humans from an evil group of beings who desire more power. Lyon is the leader of these potent warriors, and it is his task to find the missing woman who will be their new Radiant. This special woman must be located or he and the other shape-shifters will lose their abilities because of lack of energy only received from her, thus making it easier for their enemies to become more powerful. When the location of the selected one from his race is discovered, Lyon goes to her home and gives her little choice in whether she goes with him or not.
With her unassuming life as a schoolteacher, Kara MacAllister finds it difficult to believe what the mysterious man tells her as she certainly does not feel like an exceptional being. Although Kara cannot conceive of how she can actually help his people as he implies, she does feel an unexpected plus strong attraction to him. Lyon also experiences the passionately intense bond between them, but knows he must follow whatever path fate has in store for them. As Kara ponders what becoming the Radiant might entail, those who would do anything for more power make their threats a terrifying reality, causing Lyon to recognize what has been missing in his lonely life and how he desires to change this fact.
Pamela Palmer has created magically believable storytelling for her Feral Warriors series. From the first enthralling situation to the heart-pounding conclusion, DESIRE UNTAMED will keep your emotions going through numerous joyful highs and some exceedingly agonizing lows. Ms. Palmer can masterfully build the tension in any set of circumstances, whether the moment is a physical confrontation or one packed with almost uncontrollable longing, and the resulting scene is always affecting with such genuine responses. With an abundance of commanding men in one household, the testosterone level would normally be high, but their immediate dilemma causes even the slightest problem to turn explosive. There were definitely several scenes where I was holding my breath until the disagreement was settled. Ms. Palmer has assembled a cast of memorable individuals, each one with a distinctive personality which is clearly shown at different times. With lots of characters to introduce in the first book of the series, this skilled author lets the reader know something personal about many of them, making me eager to learn more in future releases. When it comes to the hero and heroine, I feel in love with Lyon and Kara from the very start. Their compassionate natures are evident countless times, and their deeply sincere reactions are truly convincing. The intense link between them is palpably evident anytime they are together, and this bond is particularly apparent when passion rules their actions as these scenes are heartfelt yet fervent. There are two more books coming out soon, and I cannot wait to find out what occurs next. With hidden intrigue, danger and conflicting emotions, DESIRE UNTAMED is grippingly spellbinding.
