Wicked Woman by Denise Eagan

"Denise Eagan presents a well crafted romantic tale that captures the essence of Victorian America and the societal influences of the day."

Wicked Woman

Morgan is running for her life. She has killed her abusive husband and has nowhere to turn but her former friend, Captain Ward Montgomery. Hiding out in his warehouse she is soon discovered by the Captain and makes him an offer he won’t refuse; she will become his mistress. But what happens when danger stalks the couple? Will they live to forge a forever love?

Fiercely tender and intensely romantic, Wicked Woman has just the right amounts of passion and suspense. I fell a little in love with the characters myself. There was an emotional connection to Morgan from the beginning. I empathized with her plight and supported her using her wiles to stay safe. Captain Montgomery is the epitome of alpha-maleness; he steps in and takes advantage of the situation to his satisfaction and makes our fair heroine his mistress. He is a dominant character but never overpowers the story. We are continually reminded that Morgan is a wanted woman and has brought danger to Montgomery as well. I laughed, I cried, I was angry and I was on the edge of my seat cheering our hero and heroine to a happy ending. If you love a good solid romantic story, you will not want to miss Wicked Woman by Denise Eagan. I am certainly going to watch for future releases by this gifted storyteller.
