Review: According to Jane by Marilyn Brant

"Ellie Barnett is hearing the voice of Jane Austin in her head. Travel through Ellie's journey to find her Darcy with the help of Jane giving her advice along the way."

Ellie Barnett is a sophomore in high school when she first is introduced to Jane Austin’s Pride and Prejudice. Interesting enough as she is being teased by the irresistible Sam Blaine, she is interrupted by none author than Jane herself. Jane issuing warnings that Sam  Blaine is her Wickham.  What transpires is a witty tale of Ellie’s pursuit to find her Darcy.

The outrageous tale retells Ellie’s struggles to find the ideal man.  Her romantic life is a roller coaster going smoothly for a time until it hits a rocky road and catapults her into rethinking her choices. Jane Austin chimes in throughout the story adding knowledge and disproval on Jane’s choices comparing modern day men to the men in her time.

Marilyn Brant has written a spellbinding tale with enjoyable characters and hilarious story telling capabilities.  I was enrapture from the first page and eagerly waiting to see who Ellie’s Darcy was.  The people in the story are easy to relate to, I found them all likable even with their flaws.   A wonderful first book for Marilyn Brant, I am sure we will be seeing her name over the years attached to more wonderful books. Pick up your copy and escape for a weekend to Jane Austin’s world through the eyes of Ellie Barnett.
