Review: Summer’s Song by Allie Boniface

Summer Thompson returns to Pine Point after the death of her father. Summer had not stepped foot in Pine Point since being sent away by her father ten years ago after a family tragedy ripped them apart. The disaster caused Summer to lose her memory of the event but now recollections are beginning to resurface as she stays on to sell the house she inherited.
Damian Knight, one of the carpenters working on the house, has troubles of his own. He meets Summer when she comes to see how much work needs to be done on the house to get it ready to sell. Damian and his family live on the property in a barn that Summer now owns. Sparks ignite when Summer announces she is selling the property and although she will try, his family will most likely have to move.
Summer and Damian continue to try to fight the attraction between them, easily misunderstanding each other and jumping to conclusions. Summer begins to remember about her past, and is frightened with where it may lead. Damian who has been protecting his family for so long, finds he is torn between wanting to spend time with summer and his duties to his family.
Allie Boniface’s Summer Song is an engrossing story about hidden pasts, lost memories, and finding love despite everything else. Summer is a complex character who you will grow to care about; her vulnerability is beautifully described throughout the story. Damian, the protector, is compelling as you read his internal struggle with his attraction to Summer, which is too strong to resist, and his continued care for his own family. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, a wonderful read when you want to curl up on the couch and relax.
