Review, Dance With Deception by Tracy Goodwin
Sebastian Montgomery, Ninth Duke of Davenport, has made a vow, never marry and definitely do not fall in love. Living in the shadow of his father’s scandalous past Sebastian is content with his single life until he meets the one woman who will make him change his mind.
Gwendolyn MacAlistair is a woman tormented; she has made a promise to her cold and distant father on his death bed to marry a man she despises, yet she is attracted to Sebastian Montgomery. He just may be the one man she will love forever. How does a woman do the right thing when she would rather die than do it?
The road to happily ever after is filled with many uphill battles; lies and duplicity threaten to keep Sebastian and Gwen from forming a lasting relationship. As we follow the progression from attraction, to passion, to love, we are made aware of the obstacles thrown into the path of our lovers. Sebastian hides his pain well, having grown up in the shadow of his father’s infamous exploits, he is against a close relationship of any kind with a woman. Gwen is a woman grown up without the love of her father, always trying to prove her worth. I felt an emotional connection to Sebastian and Gwen right away. They stole a little bit of my heart as I read the heartbreaking yet heartwarming story of their love. Keir is a truly reprehensible character. He epitomized evil in my opinion. I laughed, I cried, I got angry. All the time, I cheered them on to keep going and prayed it would work out for them. It isn’t often I fall in love with characters, but I certainly did with these two. If this is a debut novel, I eagerly anticipate the next offering by Tracy Goodwin. Dance With Deception expertly blends romance, danger and lush sensuality in one brilliant novel. I applaud you, Ms Goodwin.
