Review: Angelic Avenger by Kaye Chambers
Arabella “ Bella” Morrison is working to restore her cosmic balance in the afterlife after taking an innocent life. Her own. Now Bella works with the Angels and keeps the shifters and others who aren’t quite human from causing trouble.
Along this road Bella meets a half-breed angel, Gray Devereau. While Bella wouldn’t mind a short term affair with Gray, he wants a lifetime with her. Throw in an angel gone rogue trying to kill a little girl and a shifter rebellion on the rise to complicate Bella’s life.
In the beginning I was hooked by Bella’s sharp wit and cynicism, yet she obviously has a big heart that when hurt is devastating. The problem with this story is that while she was a compelling character, the story was not. It had to many plots and side “things” that did not come together and Gray was a jealous brat. I am soooo turned off by a man who is always jealous.
Also, I am in no way, shape or form a grammar freak but the grammar and word phrasing problems here kept pulling me out of the story.
Despite the faults I find in Angelic Avenger, the first third of the book was so good that I am looking forward to seeing more work by Kaye Chambers.
