Review: Truly, Madly by Heather Webber
This was a really fun paranormal mystery. Lucy Valentine comes from a family of successful match makers. Only a handful of people know that the family secret to success is based on a family psychic ability. Unfortunately Lucy doesn’t have quite the same ability. She can find lost objects but can’t see the auras to match mates. When her father suffers a heart attack and a scandal she is expected to step in and run the business while he goes away to recoup.
Lucy reluctantly starts her duties only to meet a man hanging on to a past love. She “sees” the lost engagement ring – on a skeleton! Now she is intent on uncovering the mystery and determining if her client is a murderer or if she can find his lost love. She seeks help from the PI upstairs to find that the older man she knew is away and in his place is his very hot and handsome son, Sean!
Lucy believes she is under a family curse that means finding love for others but not for the Valentines. Even though the touch between Sean and Lucy sizzles, she is unwilling to get into a relationship. Lucy manages to drag Sean into helping her but he has a lot of questions that she doesn’t want to answer.
Meanwhile Lucy risks revealing her psychic abilities to find a lost little boy. Although she thinks she has managed to protect her secret, a stubborn reporter is intent on exposing her. Will the public and police consider her a freak or will they appreciate her “gift”?
Lucy is pretty and determined enough to make up for her lack of confidence in the personal love arena. Sean is handsome and patient. He is willing to give Lucy time to explain things to him and maybe to take a risk with him.
The characters are nicely developed, including Lucy’s meddling grandmother and her two best friends. The mystery had some twists to keep you on your toes. The dialogue is fun and keeps the story flowing. I recommend you read this and then, like me, you will want to read more of Lucy’s adventures!
