Review: Scoundrel’s Kiss by Carrie Lofty
Gavriel de Marqueda knows he must change his life if he is to save his soul. Dedicating himself to God by joining a monastery is the best way he knows to do this. Now he has one final test to pass – help a woman who is also lost. Ada of Keyworth has fallen so far only someone who is a stranger can help her. But as they get closer and closer, Ada is sure Gavriel is more than just a novice. She is determined to find out exactly who he is. For his part, Gavriel finds Ada incredibly tempting, but knows he cannot do anything about it. Fate is certainly fickle and these two have miles to go before fate in through with them.
Scoundrel’s Kiss is set in Spain in the thirteenth century. The joy of reading Scoundrel’s Kiss lies in its unusual setting and time. While there are books set during this same time, there are not that many. It makes Scoundrel’s Kiss somewhat unique. Gavriel was strong and capable but he was not reared as normal children were. Ada had her own issues and turned to outside help to handle them. Two damaged individuals meet under unusual circumstances and as it turns out, they may be the key to each other’s salvation. First, though, they must survive the intrigue and betrayals that fate has in store for them. Carrie Lofty will take us on quite a journey with Gavriel and Ada as we follow their adventures. Captivating from beginning to end, Scoundrel’s Kiss has more than a few provocative surprises in its pages. The reader will delight in this fantastic story, Scoundrel‘s Kiss by Carrie Lofty.
