By taking part in the annual benefit hike sponsored by local law enforcement, District Attorney Elena Martinez hopes to reenergize herself during the two day trek into the Grand Canyon. Even though she and her partner for the hike, detective Seth King, often find themselves clashing over their opinions on how to try a case, Elena does enjoy watching the view she gets by following behind the muscular man. While exchanging plenty of conversations filled with repartee, they come to realize there is a much different side to each other than what is portrayed in the courtroom. Just as they are about to disclose even more revealing truths about themselves, Seth and Elena are captured by a drug syndicate intent on settling a score.
The suspense sneaks up and grabs the reader with its graphically visual depiction in this story, and it never once lets go until the heart-pounding ending. Cindy Gerard superbly makes every intriguingly captivating instance believable through clever wording and intricately described scenes. With heartfelt candidness, Seth and Elena come to truly know each other, and their shared passions are beautifully revealed with convincing emotions. “Desert Heat” is compellingly engrossing with a breathtaking plot and an unforgettable couple.
