Review: LINE OF SCRIMMAGE by Marie Force

"Can this marriage be saved?"

After nine years of marriage to Denver’s star quarterback, Ryan Sanderson, Susannah filed for divorce and it will become final in ten days. She is tired of coming in second place to the team, tired of other women flirting with her husband, tired of the fear of his being injured and tired of the constant hoopla that life with a NFL superstar entails. Susannah wants peace and her upcoming marriage to new fiancé Henry Merrill will give her that. Henry has waited for Susannah since they were fifteen years old.

Ryan can not believe his marriage is over and he plans to prove to Susannah that they are about to make the biggest mistake of their lives. He confronts her and begs to spend these last ten days alone with her. He also threatens to hold up the divorce if she doesn’t. Needless to say, Susannah reluctantly agrees to spend time with Ryan despite Henry’s and her family’s outrage.

During their ten days together, Ryan and Susannah realize some hard truths about their marriage. It may not have been all good but it definitely was not all bad either and the blame is shared by both parties. One thing that they both agree on is their mutual bone-melting sexual desire.

LINE OF SCRIMMAGE is a skillfully told story about a marriage in crisis and the lengths a couple will go to save it. Début author Marie Force put her football research to good use when writing this book, adding credibility and interest to an already awesome novel. Her characters; Ryan, an alpha male with a gentle heart and Susannah, a well-grounded, sophisticated woman, are made for each other and their passion simply sizzles as they work through their problems. Secondary characters, including the football team, are well thought out and defined. I wholeheartedly recommend LINE OF SCRIMMAGE as the perfect football season book by an up and coming new author. Keep your eye on Marie Force!
