Review: To Seduce a Sinner by Elizabeth Hoyt
Melissande Flemming, has loved and lost before and now has loved Jasper Renshaw, Viscount Vale for years, but he does not even remember her name, when she makes the desperate move of proposing to him after he is jilted by another fiancée.
Jasper though is still haunted by the horror and trauma of his time in the Colonies fighting the French and Indians. He is however intrigued by his new wife and her surprising sensuality and is determined to find out what makes her tick. While Melisande is trying to hide her true feelings from him to keep from being hurt again.
Jasper is also facing an obsession with whether or not his regiment in the Colonies was betrayed to the French and if so who could have done it? But this obsession could also endanger his and Melissande’s new life together.
While I thoroughly enjoyed this story and the previous book in this series, I will admit that I did not find any “wow” factor here. It is a standard 18th Century romance story, with a bit of a mystery. For fans of this style, like myself, this is a fun read. I would recommend though that readers pick up Book 1 of this series, Legend of the Four Soldiers, To Taste Temptation, first as it does introduce the main characters and several of the plot points.
Enjoy.
