Review: Beyond Portal Book 1: Portal 2212 by Thadd Evans
Scientists cloned humans and sent them into space when pollution started to destroy their home planet. Designed to be perfect human specimens, the scientists wanted to make sure that the clones could produce healthy offspring to populate their new world. After twenty years in space, the robots piloting the ship informed the passengers that gamma ray bursts could destroy the ship. To preserve their lives and the spaceship, the robots must land temporarily and find a cave deep enough to shield the vessel.
Darius, leader of the cloned humans, learns that the food aboard the spaceship will soon run out. When they land on the planet, Darius enlists his fellow travelers to help him find edible plants and animals on the surface of the planet. Their search for food becomes a battle for survival. The inhabitants of the planet are at war and the humans get caught in the middle of the battle.
In the first book of the Beyond Portal series, Thadd Evans takes his travelers on one adventure after another. Tragedy and heartache follow them as they struggle to stay alive. This book is science fiction in its purest form. Where will their journey take them next?
