Review: Breaking The Clouds – Margaret Blake
Moving to New Zealand has been the best thing Bronwen Mellor has ever done. She has a good job and a lovely home and life in the beautiful country couldn’t be better for her. She’s enjoying her surroundings and embracing new experiences, however, there’s a catch: her husband Jack does not seem to share her enthusiasm. Ever since their move, Jack has grown miserable, become withdrawn and his drinking has started to escalate out of control. Bronwen cannot help but worry about Jack and about their relationship. Although she loves living in New Zealand, she can’t stand the fact that her marriage is disintegrating. She is desperate to make her marriage work, but with Jack barely talking to her, Bronwen wonders whether she’ll ever manage to salvage their relationship.
The last thing Brownen wants or needs is a visit from her cousin Marged, but when she turns up unexpectedly, Brownen has no other option but to make her feel welcome. Marged has changed beyond recognition since the last time Browen clapped eyes on her. Marged is now wily, devious and enigmatic, but little does Brownen know that, after Marged’s visit, things will never be the same again for her…
Jack has vanished off the face of the earth and as Brownwen begins to dig deep into his disappearance, she realizes that for the past couple of weeks, her husband has been lying to her about his job. As if that wasn’t bad enough already, Jack has run off with most of her money and, with nobody to turn to, Bronwen realizes that if she wants to find out the truth about her husband’s disappearance, then the only person she can rely on is herself!
Bronwen is not about to run the risk of trusting anyone else with her heart or her secrets ever again. But when her Job Tepi comes into her life, Bronwen cannot help but be drawn to him…
Is Job all that he seems or does he have deadly secrets lurking in his closet? Will Brownen ever manage to find out the truth about her husband’s disappearance and move on with her life? Or will she always be mired in this tangled web of mystery and deception?
Breaking the Clouds is a captivating tale, set in a beautiful part of the world, that is full of nail-biting intrigue, riveting dramatic scenarios and heartwarming romance. Margaret Blake draws her readers in from the very first page and keeps them engrossed until the very end!
