Review: Dark Warrior 4: Midnight’s Warrior by Donna Grant

"Ms. Grant brings together two people who are afraid to fall in love and then ignites sparks between them. Only evil magic can tear them apart."

Tara once had a loving family, but she soon learned that they had a dark secret.  She knew her family were Druids.  She did not learn until she was old enough for initiation that they were a special sect of Druids who sell their souls to Satan. Tara refuses to take part in the ritual and her loving family turns on her.  Tara runs for her life and is still running for ten years later.  Tara thought she found a safe haven once, only to learn that the man she trusted wanted her power.  Tara’s latest place of refuge is an ancient Highland castle where she acts as tour guide and makes reservations.  She meets a handsome handyman who stirs her blood, but she cannot afford to become involved.  She knows will run again so she refuses to get close to anyone.

Ramsey MacDonald is one of the Warriors from MacLeod Castle, but until recently he concealed another part of himself:  He is also a powerful Druid.  When Saffron, the Seer at the Castle, told Ramsey that he must go to this remote place and rescue the Druid who works here, he never expected to find a woman who stirs his soul.  He takes a job as a handyman so he can be close to Tara.  Ramsey soon learns that Declan Wallace, the evil Druid who held Saffron prisoner, searches for Tara.  Ramsey knows he must keep her safe.  Tara has great magic and does not know how to control it.  Wallace wants that power for his own and will do whatever he has to in order to get it.  Can Ramsey keep Tara safe?

In the fourth book of the Dark Warrior series, Donna Grant unearths Ramsey’s hidden past.  No one at MacLeod Castle knew he was a Druid as well as a Warrior until he used his magic to help defeat their enemy, Deirdre.  Tara is a powerful Druid but her untrained powers can do as much damage as good.  Declan Williams wants Tara so he can use her magic.  He had her once, but she escaped.  He will not let that happen again.  Ms. Grant brings together two people who are afraid to fall in love and then ignites sparks between them.  Only evil magic can tear them apart.  Is Ramsey strong enough to protect Tara from Williams’ magic manipulation or will she fall under the evil Druid’s thrall?
