Review: Hip Check by Deirdre Martin

"In Hip Check by Deirdre Martin, another hockey player finds his own solo win."

Esa Saari, a member of the New York Blades, is happy with his life, where is known as a bad boy both on and off the ice.  Then he becomes guardian to his 8 year old niece.  He knows his lifestyle must change.  Esa hires Michelle Beck as Nell’s nanny.  She works wonders with the little girl and the two quickly bond.  What surprises Esa is how he would not mind a little bonding time himself.  The connection between them sizzles to overload and neither knows how to put out the flame.  Michelle wants to keep things professional but Esa finds one taste is not enough.  Now he has a decision to make -  his image or her love.

Esa was amazing as he tried to become a guardian.  He thought that by hiring a nanny he was off the hook, but Michelle had other ideas.  His bewilderment at how to handle his niece and his delight in how Michelle handled him made for some great scenes and more than a few chuckles.  Deirdre Martin is a master as she takes Esa from a self-centered bachelor to so much more, as he handles one blow after another from not just becoming responsible for Nell but from other things both personal and professional.  To find out just what, you will have to pick up Hip Check by Deirdre Martin to find out.  Take center ice with Hip Check and enjoy the story as Deirdre Martin scores better than a hat trick.
