REVIEW: ANYTHING FOR YOU BY JESSICA SCOTT

In the first book of the Coming Home series, BECAUSE OF YOU, readers learned about Shane and Jen who had both suffered through pain and some type of loss. Now these two survivors reveal what happens in their lives when exceptionally tough choices must be made, and whether their relationship will become stronger or fall apart because of these decisions. The title, ANYTHING FOR YOU, perfectly describes the feelings of this couple and what they will do for the other, and Jessica Scott makes each moment of their lives particularly realistic.

After Sergeant First Class Shane Garrison was wounded in warfare, he returned to the states where a civilian nurse helped with his recovery. Jennifer St. James has survived her own battle with breast cancer, and while most of their physical injuries have healed, emotional anxiety about the other still lingers. Though their love becomes even more intense with each passing day, so do their worries about what the future could hold for them.

Shane likes to always control any situation, yet there are so many uncertainties pertaining to one area in his relationship with Jen. He knows if he chooses incorrectly, then there could be devastating consequences that he does not want to ever face. While he tries to settle on what plan is the best one to follow, she is also thinking about the upcoming years they will be spending together.

When it comes to military romance novels, Jessica Scott always writes from the heart. Since she is an actual soldier and has bravely served her country, her stories have an authentic feel to them and always come across as probably occurring as depicted. While ANYTHING FOR YOU only takes place at Ft. Hood, the life of someone who has been in combat or someone in love with a soldier is conveyed in details that are clearly conceivable. What could happen to someone in battle is painfully portrayed, and what they often endure has me admiring these courageous fighters all the more. Even though any facts relating to being a soldier are compelling, it is the emotional issues affecting Shane and Jen that really grabbed hold of me from the very start and never let go. These two have experienced so much already, and they still have several exceedingly difficult choices to make, ones which will profoundly influence both of their futures. The sensitive subject matter is handled very well, and each reaction from Shane or Jen is especially sincere and exposed how they truly felt. Their selfless actions plus earnest comments prove just how devoted they are to each other and how their love has grown from their first book. The passion between them is expressed through tender yet fervent touches and kisses, and each one is beautifully communicated. Although the story is rather short, every single word has significance to the crucial decisions this couple must make, and I felt totally satisfied by the time all concluded. ANYTHING FOR Y
