Review: Whiskey Sour by Skyla Dawn Cameron

This book contains three stories by the author, Skyla Dawn Cameron.  The book is populated by unique paranormal creatures.  Each story stands alone, but together they take the reader on a supernatural rollercoaster ride.

In Whiskey Sour, Juliette Aubrey is a faerie living in French Canada.  One night of unprotected sex with a man who disappears in the morning changes her life forever.  Now each month Juliette finds herself changing into a wolf when the moon is full.  All Juliette can think about is getting revenge on the man responsible for infecting her with lycanthropy.  When he finally appears at the bar where Juliette works, he tells her that he needs her help.  After the promise of a lot of money, Juliette finally agrees to help him.  Juliette, however, still wants to make him pay for what he did to her.  How will she get her revenge?

In A Vampire Walked Into a Bar, Pat, a middle-aged businessman, witnesses a vampire attack from his office window and takes pictures.  A friend arranges to have a Demon Hunter meet Pat at a bar to discuss the problem.  While he waits, Pat meets a beautiful woman.  He cannot believe his luck.  He is no longer the handsome man of his youth, but she still seems to want to be with him.  She tells him that her name is Kimberly and she is just getting over the death of her last boyfriend.  When she describes the way he died, Pat is sure that a vampire is responsible for her boyfriend’s death.  “Kimberly” is not who she pretends to be.  She is really a vampire named Zara with an agenda of her own.  Will Pat end up becoming her next meal?

In Zombie Faeries, Zara Lain, a vampire, gets an anonymous text instructing her to meet the sender in a cemetery. Juliette Aubrey is the author of the text and she is angry that Zara entered her territory without permission.  Juliette is ready to fight to make her point, but Zara is not so easily defeated.  Zara and Juliette use all of their special powers to conquer the other.  Zara finally defeats Juliette but she is not done fighting for her unlife.  The peaceful cemetery is suddenly overrun by Zombies.  Some of the Zombies were human when they lived, but others were faeries and still possess magic.  Zara and Juliette join forces to combat the Zombies.  Will they survive?

Skyla Dawn Cameron invents new creatures to keep the reader entertained.  The possibilities of a werewolf and faerie mix are endless.  The mystery of the creation of Zombie Faeries is left unsolved and begs to be answered.  Juliette and Zara are strong independent women who are not afraid to fight for what they want.  What does the future hold for Juliette and Zara?
