REVIEW: WICKED INTENTIONS BY ELIZABETH HOYT

The widowed Mrs. Temperance Dews knows the streets and seedy world of St Giles in London, because she saves the lives of children and babies from there and brings them back to the foundling home she helps one of her brothers run, now that their father is dead. They are struggling because the home’s previous benefactor recently died and did not leave them anything. So when the wicked Lord Caire approaches Mrs. Dews for her assistance in navigating St. Giles, she is desperate enough to accept his bargain to help her find another benefactor. But she finds herself tempted by more from Lord Caire than his connections in the ton.

Lazarus Huntington, Lord Caire is looking for the killer of his last mistress, not because he loved her because he feels he should have. Now he finds himself strangely fascinated by Mrs. Dews. She tries so hard to do the right thing and push aside her own desires, but Caire is determined to release these passions and allow her wicked side come out.

But danger lurks for them in the heart of St. Giles…

Wicked Intentions is a great book, but I’ll admit I’ve  had a hard time figuring out how to describe it as I also find some of it to be a bit…odd, but odd in a very good way. This book has a freshness in storyline for a historical, probably because instead of being set in the world of the glittering ballrooms, it is in the darker side of London.

I find myself really looking forward to seeing how the series will play out as so many of the characters are interesting and have a number of facets the audience has yet to see.

Enjoy.
