Edie Sha’nim has finally escaped from Crib dominion only to be re-captured and forced to once again work under the cold Liz Natesa, as a cypherteck, changing native ecology on developing planets to meet the growing food needs of the Crib empire. Natesa has gone too far this time, returning to Edie’s home world of Talas, capturing more children, even younger than Edie was, to train as cyphertecks. Edie must go along with Natesa’s plans if she wants Finn, the only person she trusts, to stay alive.
It soon becomes evident that Natesa’s project is a disaster and as her plans melt down, Edie and Finn attempt an escape with the children. However, Scarabaeus, the first planet Edie tried to save, lures Edie and the children into danger. The malevolent evil intelligence infused in the planet wants Edie as its own, and even the stalwart Finn has his hands full trying to dissuade Edie from making the ultimate sacrifice. Now that Finn and Edie finally begin to recognize their feelings for each other, will Scarabaeus come between them?
Science fiction adventure author Sara Creasy welcomes us to her creation; a universe with an empire that cultivates planets, like farms, to support its growing needs. The heroine, Edie, is caught up in the control of the evil empire but in no way succumbs her spirit to them. Together, with the help of the hero, Finn, they resist; searching for escape and freedom for themselves and the exploited children of Talas. CHILDREN OF SCARABAEUS is the sequel to SONG OF SCARABAEUS and takes up where the first left off, answering questions and leading to more adventures for Edie and Finn. A fast-paced science fiction novel with plenty of witty dialogue, adventure and even a bit of passion; something for everyone in CHILDREN OF SCARABAEUS by talented Sara Creasy.
